My Favorite Baseball Tradition
April 15, 1947. . .75 years ago today, a young man, wearing number 42, started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers and baseball has never been the same. The young man was Jackie Robinson. April 15 was Opening Day of baseball season.
Today, baseball honors that event with the best tradition in sports. Every player, coach and umpire wore number 42 today in remembrance of that event.
The Seattle Mariners had their home opener today. They defeated the Houston Astros 11 – 1.
Thank you Mr. Robinson.
Stay safe
